During the past five years, the National Ice Skating Association has enjoyed and nurtured a working partnership with Ice Magic International that has been most productive and allowed the following objectives to be met through the maximizing of their Ice Magic® synthetic ice rink equipment:
- Increase the profile of our learn to skate programme, SKATE UK, to a wider audience and in particular young people that perhaps would not visit an ice arena as their choice leisure activity. Ice Magic® rinks are able to be resourced as part of the SKATE UK programme - allowing young skaters to reach up to level 5 before going on to complete the course on 'real' ice (up to level 12).
- Introduce very young children to 'ice' skating in an ultra safe environment that is certainly not as intimidating as entering a large ice arena.
- Give youngsters the confidence to stand on blades and to skate backwards and forwards without falling on a hard real ice surface.
- Raise the profile of ice skating through the installation of Ice Magic® rinks in areas that have either no access to a local ice arena or are from communities that still see many barriers to entering ice skating as a sport.
- Finally and through the Ice Magic International Ice Magic® brand sponsorship scheme, making available much needed funding to NISA in support of our more talented skaters and future champions.
